The southern terminus of Ontario Highway 6, Port Dover, ON was known as Dover Mills prior to the War of 1812, which was settled in 1670 by French missionaries François Dollier de Casson and René Bréhant de Galinée. Growth of our community increased in the late 19th century, thanks to the arrival of the railroad but increased further after the construction of the Grand River Railway, connecting Port Dover to Brantford, Hespeler, Kitchener and Waterloo.
