Located on the shore of Parry Sound on the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron, Parry Sound, ON was established in 1857 and named in honour of Arctic explorer Sir William Edward Parry. In the late 19th century, our community became an important depot on the rail line to Western Canada and was known for its cordite, explosives and munitions factories in the first half of the 20th century.
Parry Sound is home to cultural festivals, including the Festival of the Sound classical music festival, which takes place as part of the town’s Canada Day festivities and the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts that hosts concerts, live theatre and other cultural events throughout the year. Sports, especially hockey in the birthplace of the legendary Bobby Orr, and recreation are important elements of life in our community, which include kayaking, canoeing, fishing, softball and golf during the warmer months.
Hometown Hearing Centre, established in 2015, is dedicated to assisting those with hearing challenges in Parry Sound by helping them reconnect and communicate with family, friends, and their community. Our team at Hometown Hearing are incredibly passionate about raising awareness for the importance of regular hearing testing, starting at the age of 55+ and recommended annually for all people across Ontario.
